Om op SlugOS 4.8 te kunnen compileren, moet het volgende gedaan worden:

$ ipkg install gcc
$ ipkg install libstdc++-dev
$ ipkg install cpp           -> het is de vraag of dit nodig is
$ ipkg install g++-symlinks  -> het is de vraag of dit nodig is
$ ipkg install gcc-symlinks  -> het is de vraag of dit nodig is
$ ipkg install coreutils
$ ipkg install binutils

Bovenstaande info was niet te vinden op www.nslu2-linux.org en is emperisch bepaald. Dit heeft te maken met het ontbreken van het volgende commando:

$ ipkg install slugos-native

Op SlugOS 3.3 en hoger had het volgende voldoende moeten zijn. Ik heb dit ook uitgevoerd op de eerste stap na:

  1. installeer de package: slugos-native (Deze bevat de essential build tools)
  2. rm /usr/bin/gcc (dit is een symlink naar armeb-linux-gcc)
  3. creeer de file /usr/bin/gcc met: /usr/bin/armeb-linux-gcc -mthumb-interwork $*

  4. Maak deze executeerbaar met chmod 555 /usr/bin/gcc Nu is het mogelijk om op de NSLU2 het volgende commando te geven:

    $ gcc hello.c -o hello
